ICCREM 2023 had been held by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology in Xi'an, China from September 23rd to 24th, 2023. The 2023 Conference on Construction and Real Estate Management (ICCREM 2023) is jointly organized by Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tsinghua University, Umeå University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Louisiana State University, University of Alberta, Guangzhou University, Marquette University, Nottingham Trent University, and Chongqing University. The conference will be held by Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, and will be sponsored by the Construction Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Construction Industry High-Quality Development Institute of the China Construction Industry Association (CCIA), Journal of Engineering Management, Engineering, Construction and Architecture Management, Journal of Urban Management, Journal of Xi’an University of Architecture & Technology (Natural Science Edition), and Urban Sustainable Construction and Management Committee of China Society of Urban Economics.


The theme of ICCREM 2023 is “The Human-Centered Construction Transformation”. A total of 180 experts and scholars from universities, research institutions from China, Sweden, and other countries and regions participated. They explored how to better consider human needs throughout the entire life cycle of construction and usage, and how to advance the industry towards a higher level of sustainability and human-centric orientation.


The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Prof. Feng Lan, the Dean of the School of Management at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. the Vice President of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology Qunyan Dong and the Chairman of the ICCREM2023 organizing committee Prof. Yaowu Wang delivered welcome speeches at the opening ceremony.


The keynote speeches session was hosted by Prof. Jinbo Song from Dalian University of Technology. Prof. Geoffrey Q.P. Shen from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Yun Le from Tongji University, Prof. Thomas Olofsson from Umeå University, Prof. Guiwen Liu from Chongqing University, Prof. Mohamed Al-Hussein from the University of Alberta, and Prof. Yuzhe Wu from Zhejiang University made keynote speeches, respectively.


A total of six parallel sessions were set up. Experts and scholars from universities such as Tsinghua University, Tongji University, and Chongqing University gathered to discuss various topics, including green construction, construction industry informatization, industrialized and modular construction, urban renewal, and human habitation welfare.


The conference closing ceremony was hosted by Professor Xiaolong Xue, Dean of the School of Management at Guangzhou University. In ICCREM 2023, a total of 145 academic papers were submitted by researchers. After a thorough review by the conference organizing committee's panel of experts, 12 best papers were selected. During the closing ceremony, the list of bset papers was announced, and Prof. Yaowu Wang and Prof. Feng Lan presented awards to the authors. Prof. Chengshuang Sun, Dean of the School of Urban Economics and Management at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, delivered the closing speech, officially concluding the ICCREM 2023.
